Ye & I took a 4 AM flight to SF and spent the weekend visiting our best friends. We lucked out with the weather because it was beautifully sunny & cool the whole weekend:
DAY 1: Liana picked us up from the airport & gave us a tour of the cute city of Burlingame. The first stop of the day was il Piccolo Caffe for coffee then we had brunch at Crepevine Restaurant. One entrée can be shared between two people because the portion size were huge! Later we joined Liana & Elliot for a late lunch at Tuna Kahuna (Voted top 100 places to eat on Yelp). We drove to the Asian Art Museum in the city to check out the interactive teamLab: Continuity exhibit. If you decide to go, wear a white shirt or white pants so the lights and prints pop in pictures. The group wrapped up the night with warm pho on the patio at Ben Tre & shared matcha and chocolate crepe cakes from Amausaan Uji Matcha for dessert.
DAY 2: From our hotel, Ye & I went for a short morning jog to the Equator Coffee shop then we met up with Liana, Elliot, and Archie. They took us on dog friendly hike at Almaden Quick Silver Park then headed to Pineapple Thai for a late lunch. The crispy garlic smelt fish was so salty & crunchy with a bit of sweetness with the dipping sauce. We all went back home to freshen up before a unique dining experience at Mokutanya. The ambiance was full of energy because of the top 40 hits in the background and fun seating arrangements. Last item on the agenda for the night was the night cap at Bar Shiru in Oakland. They only accept reservations so be sure to plan ahead to enjoy the intimate acoustics & unique cocktails.
DAY 3: We checked out of our hotel to meet up with David and Oli for brunch at Son & Garden in the city. Afterwards, we picked up pastries that Emma kindly ordered for us at B Patisserie. Next item on the schedule was to view the Blue Angels air show for fleet week. Seeing the planes fly so low to the water or a fleet flying in formation was so entertaining! The last meal we enjoyed altogether was Dumpling Home then we were on our way to the airport back to LA.
