Lessons I learned:
- Start thy purse to fattening. For every paycheck I receive, I will put away 1/10 into my savings. // ACTION: Set up my direct deposit account to automatically add the 10% to my savings account.
- Control thy expenditures. Review my bank transactions frequently and look at what's a "need" versus a "want." Any unnecessary spending can and should be contributions to my savings. // ACTION: Download and use the Mint app to monitor all my spending and put the app as my top widget so I'm reminded to stick to my budget.
- Make thy gold multiply. When the right opportunity arises, use my savings towards investments and assets that will make my money "work" for me. // ACTION: Set up my Fidelity & Vanguard accounts to contribute to an index fund i.e S&P 500. Research other assets and investments.
- Guard thy treasures from loss. Avoid tempting offers to get rich quickly and make investments with trusted experts or your own expertise. // ACTION: Read, watch YouTube videos, and seek advice from experts, friends, and family who have successfully invested their money. Also, brainstorm the best methods to create multiple streams of income.
- Own thy own home. Stop renting and purchase my own home. //ACTION: Look at Zillow and look at houses that I would want in the future to determine the amount that I need to start saving. Another consideration would be to get a duplex or quadplex to live in one of the units and rent out the other units to make a profit.
- Insure a future income. Contribute to my retirement account monthly so my money compounds. //ACTION: Enroll in employee matching program (contribute 5 % and the company will watch the 5% for a total of 10%)
- Increase thy ability to earn. Continue to read, learn, and grow to increase my personal value and contributions. //ACTION: Research other skills or products that add value i.e lash extension/lash lifts, Google certifications or using Fiverr.
